What kind of man are you?

I hear it all the time as an adult man.  The traditional chauvinistic question - "what kind of man are you?  Are you a tits man or an ass man?".  And all the time I sit there and think "why do I have to pick one of the two?"  Can't I be attracted to something other than those baser physical characteristics?
 

I guess the real thing that I'm attracted to in a woman has to be her mind and how she "handles" life that happens.  How well does she "human".  That's what I'm attracted to in a woman.  But I know most guys are looking for a physical attribute, so here's my answer.  If I were to pick a physical attribute above all others I would say a person with a beautiful and kind smile is what I am most attracted to.  Why is the real question...  WHY is that what I'm attracted to?  In my belief a beautiful and kind smile can only be faked by the truly deceptive, and I choose to believe that a trusting and kind smile is truly a trusting and kind smile...  Especially when it's backed by behavior and actions that follow their demeanor.

Happiness is the way

I was chatting with a friend that had been poking around on my blog (Hello Aaron!) and I was telling him how I was doing and realized it had been too long since my last update to the blog.   First, apologies who reached out concerned that I was dying after my last blog post.  I never meant to scare anyone or mislead anyone about the condition of my health.  It does sound like it was impactful to a few people who felt the "punch to the gut" of going through that exercise and seeing that somehow we get lost along the way sometimes.   It's an interesting time for me at the moment (as I do my best "Dude" impression from the Big Lebowski). The Capitol - Jan 6th 2021

 The Capitol As I struggle with the anger, anxiety and sadness of the events at the capitol on Jan 6th 2021, I take refuge in the Dharma (the teachings) and my Sangha (the community). It was a dark day for our country and it's citizens, and I work on my equanimity with what happened.  Neither adding energy to, or subtracting feelings from what happened.  An acceptance of what happened as a fact.  An allowing of the reality that this is where we are. I rail against thoughts like "this should have never happened", "what does this mean for our future", "how far have we fallen", "this isn't who we are".  I work to neither feed these thoughts, or deny their existence.  I work to simply accept them as thoughts I'm having without pushing away the bad, or craving for a world view that no longer exists.
