Science vs. Hope and Prayers

Science vs. Thoughts and Prayers

It's good for you to send well-wishes to another, but appealing to a divine creator to solve problems is simply not a valid strategy/tactic for making things better.

As we get news of the spread of COVID to the POTUS, I chuckle at at the "thoughts and prayers" that are coming out. "Thoughts and prayers" are not tangible action, don't effect change, and isn't grounded in reality or science. "Thoughts and prayers" simply aren't enough.

The claims that the virus wasn't serious and deadly was nothing more than the "thoughts and prayers" of a man who desires for the world to fit into what he wants, not what he's willing to put the effort into creating.

The claims that the virus would pass with the warmer weather of summer, were nothing more than "thoughts and prayers" of someone denying the experts and science, when what was needed was support for masks and keeping 6' apart.

The idea that "thoughts and prayers" will help those suffering from the symptoms of the virus or help recover from the virus, when what is really needed is quarantine, contact tracing, action and medical attention.

This concept that "thoughts and prayers" are enough to change our democracy into one that represents all people in this country is simply not a valid way to make change. We must each spend our time, treasure and talent to making the change we wish to see in the world. Volunteer & Vote.

While I don't "hope and pray" for anyone (even my enemies) additional suffering or death, the reality is that we must act, and not just wish for things.

"Thoughts and Prayers" aren't enough, and never have been.
